NORTH THROUGH VANCOUVER
We left Birch Bay, our last campsite in the states for a while, and headed towards the Canadian boarder. Once across, we weaved through Vancouver and then headed north on Hwy 99, the Sea to Sky highway. This treated us to views of the Howe Sound on our way to find a place to call home for the next few days.
We spent our first few days in British Columbia at Stawamus Chief, a popular climbing area just outside of Squamish.
ONWARD AND UPWARD
After spending the better half of a week near Squamish and Whistler hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking, we began to realize just how big British Columbia actually is, and decided to continue north along Hwy 99 to make some progress towards Alaska.
On our way up, we took a detour at 100-mile house to stop and camp at Mahood lake, which we had entirely to ourselves. It was a good chance to break in the kayak we bought on our last day in Washington.
Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea
shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and
it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I
had to tell someone!
