LAND OF LAKES
Crossing into Oregon, we made our way to Crater Lake to see the famously blue water. As a North Carolinian and Texan, we were surprised by the amount of snow still on the ground in April, but it only added to the beautiful scene.
Although the snow made much of the park only accessible by snow shoes or cross country skiing, we still enjoyed the snow and views near the Rim Village Visitor Center.
During our hunt for a campground, we came across Diamond Lake. The lake was still frozen solid with views of snow capped Mt. Bailey.
HEADING TO LOWER ELEVATION
With much of the area near Crater lake still frozen, we decided to head west to lower elevation. When we entered the Umpqua National Forest we found warm weather and Toketee Lake Campground.
From the campground we hiked and biked to the waterfalls and the Umpqua Hot Springs.
