BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED

After Yosemite, we regrouped at our friends Alicia and Galen’s home in Stinson Beach before heading north on Highway 1.

Alicia gave us a locals’ tour of the area, taking us to farmers markets and plant nurseries around Stinson and Bolinas.

We made our way to the Lost Coast through picturesque farmland outside of Garberville.

For the first half of our stay in the King Range Wilderness, we made camp in the forest at Tolkan Campground.

During our stay at Tolkan, we hiked the Horse Mountain Trial to the coast and got our first glimpse of the Lost Coast shoreline. The following day, we rode the Paradise Royale mountain bike loop.

FROM THE FOREST TO THE BEACH

After a few cold nights in the forest, we drove the primitive roads through the area to Mattole Campground.

We hiked a small piece of the 24-mile Lost Coast Trail, where we saw a number of thru-hikers.

We started north from the Lost Coast through more farmland, then inland towards Whiskeytown.
